After wandering through the white-painted cobblestone streets we ended up at a restaurant called Ta Kioupa. This restaurant is outside and only the top is covered. It’s a very nice location and set-up so you can feel the warm ocean air as you enjoy your meal on the patio.
The food here is amazing – they have all your typical Greek food. We had Greek salad, (you haven’t had Greek salad until you’ve been to Greece by the way!), Mousaka and a couple litres of Greek wine. The wine was okay – just your standard table wine. However, the food was to die for!
The staff is very hospitable, but beware, after meals the waiters usually bring everyone Ouzo. Ouzo is 40% alcohol – with a similar taste to Sambuca. It hits you hard and after your meals the staff give you shot after shot after shot after shot. We had to tell them to stop bringing ouzo to us after a while, and that says a lot as backpackers!
Also, if you’re lucky, you might get a chance to meet the locals – the 2 pink pelicans who just hang out and walk around the area. They are the last ones in the world, or so we were told.
